Final Blog post (tear)

I am quite sad to see this class come to an end. I can honestly say it has been the best group of people to work with in quite some time. The final blog post will have you do some reflection as well as predictions. So do me a favor and answer a few quesions.
  1. What was your favorite section of the class and why?
  2. Which one was the least interesting, and why?
  3. How did you feel about your knowledge of government prior to this class, has it changed?
  4. Give me an honest assessment of your generation , politically speaking, if you had to judge it based on your friends.
  5. What can you do to make your commitment to your country stronger than it is today?
  6. Any other feelings about the class?
Again, if any of you ever need anything from me, please do not hesitate to ask. Our country only gets stronger if people like you talk about their ideas and feelings and then put those ideas into action. Regardless of your place in the university, try to pick an issue next year to do some work on. Join a group, continue blogging, vote, talk, disturb, unsettle, and just have fun engaging with other people in a dialog that effects all aspects of your life. Have a great summer and thank you again!!!!

P.S.- If you want a POL major (or second major) and I know that you do. Let me know!

Blog #7

Ok, after a blast at the McLean County Museum, what did you learn? Is it important to appreciate the history of where you live? Why is it that you have lived here and never visited something like this? How do you see the connection between politics and the history of McLean County? Was there anything that stuck out to you? Please feel free to add any and all thoughts about your experience!

Thanks again for coming, hopefully it was fun to get out of the classroom!

Point of Clarification

IThere seems to be some confusion over my mention of the museum. The Old McLean County Courthouse is a museum. Do not go to the Law and Justice Center, as I stated in class go to the building that resembles a capital building!

Briefly describe your familiarity with McLean County and its political history. Be sure to include why it is you know so much or so little about this topic. Does it matter? See you at the museum on Monday!

P.S.

Due to its late posting blog #5 will not be due until Wednesday.

Blog Post #5 - Party/ Ideology

Visit this website (http://www.politicalcompass.org/test) and click the "take the test link on the left hand side. Once you have the results, scroll down (very important) to see where you fit on the graph. Click the link below the graph that says "Show graph on separate page for printing". Right click and save the picture and add it too your post using the add image icon. Make sure to go back to the home page of the test and view the analysis. Are you surprised by where you fit? What party would you more likely be linked to? Who do you most resemble politically? I seem to be The Dali Lama, awesome!

Further, I want you to tell me what political party you prefer and why? Once you have done that I want you to visit each parties official website and give me your opinion of what you see.

Blog Post #4

I would like you to locate one article on the appointment of Sonia Sotomayor to the US Supreme Court. With this article I want you to describe its tone and how its author feels about her appointment. Be sure to include their view points on her perceived ideology, merit, her background and the groups she would represent. Be sure to first watch the video of her announcement that I have posted previously. Email me with any issues or post a comment to this blog entry!
